Every year at least once I make an honest attempt to make it down to the Florida Keys for the few days off I get a year. Usually its well planned in advance. The campsites and houses are booked and most of the kinks worked out, all done before we even leave. But this year was less so. I was about to start the last week of my time off and decided that since I had done nothing exciting the previous days I would make the trip and figure everything out along the way. But being pretty much last minute no one I knew had either the time or money for the trip. Except for one friend; Mike. So we loaded up the car Friday night and left at 5:30AM Saturday morning. We survived the trip after sleeping in the car, camping, and one night in a hotel. (During the weekend every room in every hotel is booked) We met some nice Key West locals and some that were not so. We found out that the Key West skatepark is not BMX friendly. (The Marathon park was though) We found great places to eat that weren't on Duval. And we overall had a fun time. But I probably will plan a little better for next year's trip.
